A green pearl in a concrete ocean
EkBicYeIc (paylas) is a unique ecological center in the very heart of the overcrowded Istanbul. Its concept is built with three main concepts of production, organic restaurant and sharing what we already know and what we learn through R&D.
In the seeding and harvest department we are growing over 2,000 green leafy herbals and lettuce in 11 Hydroponics indoor systems in various methods in side the center, on the walls. There is also a patio garden with two types of compost, small quail coop, soil based raised beds garden, a sitting area and an Aquaponic system that grows herbs, greens and veggies alongside fish and fresh water shrimps.
In the dining department there is a salad bar where costumers choose from about 20 organic toppings to create their own salad or have it in a wrap.
There are also six different soups to choose from that changes weekly, always with a vegetarian, vegan or gluten free option. All the products sold and prepared in the restaurant are made in Turkey.
the last pillar of Ekbicyeic is 'Paylas', that means 'sharing'.
This involves research of new ideas for sustainable living and diet, experiments with edible sprouts, microgreens, mushroom growing on used local coffee grounds, composting, urban gardening, pickle making and other skills.
After the knowledge is ready, we conduct workshops and/or host speakers every week about different subject.
Ek bic ye ic is constantly evolving with growing potential of becoming a great Hub in Istanbul, giving hope for young people that miss some fairness, awareness and simply a cool place to meet and maybe talk about creating a better future for all.
