Can Bustan - Permaculture demonstration and activity farm

2018 - present

Together with my wife Gulnur Bayraktar setting a sustainable homestead using Permaculture principles and techniques.

renovating a 200 years old farm house, maintaining and developing a one hectare piece of land in middle part of Mallorca, Balearic island, Spain.

transforming the space back into a productive farm house, with new concepts of educational programs and hospitality

Ek bic ye ic (seed, harvest, eat, drink) is an organic restaurant operating as en ecological hub/center.

Construction period took 8 months, establishing 12 hydroponic systems growing more then 2,000 plants and a seasonal 70m2 back garden.

Current part is managing the seed and harvest department, choosing new verities of edibles, managing and maintaining the systems, designing new systems for clients, R&D, finding and experimenting with new ideas for urban sustainability.

2015-Member of Nar Egitim training staff, conducting and writing ecological training programs for groups and hotal guests at Narkoy.

2014-plan and construct a rocket oven mass heater, with a 5 meter cob bench, heated from a fire stove. most efficient wood stove there is today

-programs and activities for kids in the farm.

 

2013-6-9- Planing, designing and implementing an adobe grain storage through all process, from manufacturing the bricks and mortar, to designing and laying the roof. 

                       

2012-3-6- Designing, planing, and coordinating a team of helpers creating ecological elements through out the farm- compost (toilet, 21 day, pile and pyramid) 18 raised beds terraced, spiral & mandala garden, rain water catchment, bio construction and more

 

Bustan olami- Israel

Working with ​David Renov, one of Israels first 'Green movement' architects.  In 2013 we  created a 'Bustan', a 5 element pro active healing garden, on a  7000m2 land at a youth village in Afula, Israel.  I have participated in all stages of creating this park, planing and constructing permaculture educational elements- geodesic dome class room, out door adobe brick kitchen, a wildlife biological pond, 'mashrabia' cooler, dry stone terrace, herbal gardens, edible forest walking paths and more.

since then I have done a few more projects with David and 'Bustan olami' in different schools, privet clients and local councils on different projects.

-May 2013 - 2ed teacher for a PDC with Gilad Margalit. course was held for one month, covering many educational practical skills in rural conditions. (Kadita Forest, Israel)

- July 2017 leading teacher of Urban PDC along with Idil Akdos and a collaboration with EkBicYeIc. (Taksim, Istanbul, Turkey)
