It's time for a change, in the CiTy

Food prices are getting high but quality is getting low, mostly because of the enourmus distance our food is gowing from its origen till it gets on our plates.

Growing food in the city is inevetable with the current poor condition of the soil and ever groing population.

Weather its a roof, balcony, back garden, a closed room, or even a window, today, gardening in the city is possible everywhere.

so why do we still import and export so much food?

Take action now!!  #GROW-YOUR-OWN-FOOD

Start small and slow, find a comfortable possible location, preferably with a few hours of sun, container of any kind and shape, be creativ, make sure it has drainge holes.

Add some soil, get some ORGANIC seeds of some herbs you like, and just go for it,  it won't be long untill you get the hang of it, and before you know it, your'e going to eat tomatoes from your little window garden, and join social ciber groups talking about your latest harvest.

Roof top gardening

A roof top garden is not a method, it's a concept. Cutting some green leafs for breakfast, adding some fresh peppers to your casserole, saving organic seeds for next season is something quiet normal in our roof top garden. Collecting rain water to irrigate, makes every thing easy and cheap.

Growing your own food is a privilege that any one with common sense souled acquire to them self. Paying attention to mother natures work is inspiring and reconnecting.

Don't be a slave of the system, make your own little system work for you...

DIY green house

Entering the winter, you should build your self a little green house or a cold frame.

A cold frame could be just covering your current pot with some plastic, or make a little Tipy tent on top of each pot you have.

I had to build this little green house for a cool project I'm working on. We needed 1000 seedling for an exhibition. (You can read about that project on my 'upcoming projects page' at the menu bar).

building it coast me around 15 euros and it took me about 2 hours to put every thing together. simple and clean. can you imagine how much food you can harvest with 1000 plants? :)

Mama's terrace 'farm'

this garden was my first garden, although its a ground house and my mother actually has a 100m2 garden, its full of trees, so no sun at all, and there are rock hyrax communities all around and they simply eat any thing and everything that we planted.

so we turned her second floor terrace to a little 'farm' (like she calls it.)

this was my place of learning, especially patience... i always complain about how fast it takes to build a bridge, a dam, a wall... but a single tomato will not ripen before 3 months of sun and your sweat.

Ekbicyeic is a 120m2 street floor apartament that besides functioning as a restaurant and an education center, it also grows 1,400 plants and more then 1,000 seedlings, in 10 indoor hydroponics systems. at the patio of another 70m2 there is a sitting area, a quail coop, two composts and five raised beds for soil based growing
